Your federated social network, hosted in France
The decentralized Reddit for your community powered by Mbin, installed and maintained by DINAO. A federated social platform hosted on our French servers — interoperable with Mastodon, Lemmy, and the entire Fediverse.
What is Mbin?
Mbin is a decentralized platform for content aggregation, voting, discussion, and microblogging operating on the Fediverse. It is a community fork of /kbin, focused on collective governance (C4 contract — Collective Code Construction Contract).
Through ActivityPub federation, Mbin interoperates with Mastodon, Lemmy, Pixelfed, Pleroma, PeerTube, and kbin. Content is structured into magazines (thematic communities), threads (aggregated link threads), and microblog (short posts), featuring a voting system, hierarchical comments, and comprehensive moderation and instance administration tools.
Technically, Mbin relies on PHP 8.2+/Symfony, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ (asynchronous federation processing), Valkey/Redis (cache), and optionally Mercure for real-time updates. It exposes a REST API, an OAuth2 server for third-party clients, and supports service accounts for automation. Fully deployable in Docker.

Technical details
You might be wondering…
What is the Fediverse and federation?
The Fediverse is a network of independent servers communicating via the ActivityPub protocol. Your Mbin instance can thus interact with Mastodon, Lemmy, Pixelfed, PeerTube, and many others, without a central platform.
Is Mbin an alternative to Reddit or Lemmy?
Yes. Mbin organizes content into magazines (thematic communities), threads (aggregated links), and microblog, with voting and discussions — an experience similar to Reddit, but decentralized and federated.
Can I connect bots or applications?
Yes. Mbin exposes a documented REST API and an OAuth2 server for third-party clients, as well as dedicated service accounts for automation and bots.
Where are the data hosted?
On DINAO's infrastructure in France, in one of the available data centers. Your content and that of your members remains on French territory.
Why choose managed hosting?
An Mbin instance requires several components (PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, Valkey/Redis, web server, and optionally Mercure). DINAO installs, updates, backs up, and monitors everything, adapting resources to federation volume.
