What is Iceshrimp?
Iceshrimp is a decentralized and federated social network platform, self-hostable, implementing the ActivityPub standard. Born in 2023 as a fork of Calckey / Firefish (themselves derived from Misskey), it prioritizes stability, performance, and usability over flashy feature accumulation.
It allows posting short messages (microblogging), reacting to posts with custom emojis, managing files via an integrated drive system, and federating with the rest of the Fediverse (Mastodon, PeerTube, other Misskey instances). Its compatibility with the Mastodon API enables the use of many third-party clients (Elk, Phanpy, Tusky, Ice Cubes…) in addition to its native web interface.
Technically, the original implementation relies on TypeScript / Vue.js (Node.js), while a Iceshrimp.NET rewrite (C#) is underway to improve performance. The database is PostgreSQL with a Redis / Valkey cache, and deployment is done via Docker.

No managed container for Iceshrimp: this application is installed on a VPS hosted in France (2 cœurs / 2 Go / 20 Go minimum).
Application available on a VPS
This application requires privileged access to the host machine, which is incompatible with managed shared hosting. It is installed on a VPS (virtual private server) that you administer: DINAO delivers it with Docker and the management panel of your choice, and you install and maintain Iceshrimp yourself. The VPS is not managed by DINAO unless you add the managed-services option when ordering.
