Overview

What is Appsmith?

Appsmith is an open-source low-code platform that simplifies the development, deployment, and maintenance of custom internal applications: admin panels, dashboards, forms, 360-degree customer views, or IT automation tools.

The approach treats applications as modular blocks — widgets, queries, APIs, and JavaScript code — configured through a simple interface. Appsmith offers more than 45 customizable widgets (tables, charts, lists, modals, forms) and allows you to add JavaScript logic anywhere in the application.

On the data side, it connects to major databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Amazon S3…), SaaS services (Google Sheets, Airtable, Twilio), and any REST or GraphQL API. Applications are secure by default: encrypted connections via TLS and credentials protected with AES-256. Released under the Apache 2.0 license, Appsmith is easy to self-host via Docker or Kubernetes.
