Overview

What is Yopass?

Yopass is an open-source tool for secure secret sharing : passwords, keys, or sensitive files. Encryption takes place in the browser via OpenPGP before any transmission, so the decryption key never leaves the sender's device — the server only handles encrypted data.

Each secret generates a unique link, viewable only once and automatically expiring after a set period. Yopass requires no account, performs no tracking, and optionally offers password protection, stream-based file upload encryption, multi-language support, and a customizable theme.

On the infrastructure side, Yopass relies on Redis or Memcached for ephemeral secrets and on S3 / MinIO for files. It offers OpenID Connect authentication, read receipts, webhooks, and compliance logging (SOC 2, GDPR), with simple Docker / Kubernetes deployment.

FAQ

You might be wondering…

Can the server read my secrets?

No. OpenPGP encryption takes place in your browser before transmission: the decryption key never leaves your machine. The server only stores encrypted data.

What happens after viewing?

Each secret is single-use: once viewed, it is destroyed. It also automatically expires after the period you set, even if it hasn't been opened.

Where are the data hosted?

On DINAO infrastructure in France, in one of the available data centers. Your encrypted secrets do not leave the territory.

Can I share files?

Yes, starting from the Team plan: files are encrypted via stream and stored on S3/MinIO, with the same single-use link and expiration guarantees.

Can I change plans or export my data?

Yes. You can upgrade or downgrade at any time. Since Yopass is inherently ephemeral, there is no proprietary lock-in for your content.
