What is Plex?
Plex is a personal media server platform that centralizes all your content — movies, series, music, and photos — to easily stream them across all your devices. The Plex Media Server, installed on your machine, indexes your files, automatically enriches your collection with covers, summaries, and metadata, and provides a polished, unified interface.
Its strength lies in its comprehensive ecosystem of applications: Plex is available on smartphones, tablets, computers, connected TVs, consoles, and streaming boxes, allowing access everywhere and on any device. The platform also offers free streaming content (movies, series, live TV) and discovery tools, positioning itself as a true unified entertainment hub.
Note: Plex is proprietary (closed source) software, published by Plex, Inc. It is not open source and does not have a public GitHub repository, unlike free alternatives such as Jellyfin.
Host Plex at DINAO
No managed container for Plex: this application is installed on a VPS hosted in France (2 vCPU / 2 Go / 20 Go (hors mediatheque) minimum).
Application available on a VPS
This application requires privileged access to the host machine, which is incompatible with managed shared hosting. It is installed on a VPS (virtual private server) that you administer: DINAO delivers it with Docker and the management panel of your choice, and you install and maintain Plex yourself. The VPS is not managed by DINAO unless you add the managed-services option when ordering.

Do I need a Plex Pass subscription?
Some advanced features (hardware transcoding, offline mobile access) require a Plex Pass from the publisher. DINAO provides managed hosting; any Plex subscription remains at your expense depending on the features desired.
Can I watch my collection on the go?
Yes. Remote access is included: you stream your library from anywhere, on any Plex-compatible device, with automatic stream adaptation to your connection.
Where are the data hosted?
On the DINAO infrastructure in France, in one of the available data centers. Your media remains on French territory.
Are technical skills required?
No for usage: Plex is ready to use. DINAO manages installation, the server, security, and updates. You simply add your media.
Can I change plans or retrieve my files?
Yes. You can change tiers at any time, and your files remain exportable — no proprietary lock-in.
