What is PieFed?
PieFed is a federated discussion and link aggregation platform, in the spirit of Reddit: thematic communities, discussion threads, voting, and comments. Its unique feature: it is built on ActivityPub and thus interoperable with Lemmy, Mbin, and the entire Fediverse — a post published on your server can be viewed, shared, and discussed from any compatible server.
Developed in Python and released under the AGPL license, PieFed relies on a simple codebase and reduced server costs: a full community can start with very modest resources. It offers custom feeds, subscriptions, moderation tools, role management, and customizable themes.
For an organization that wants to foster an open community without relying on a proprietary platform or suffering from advertising and profiling, PieFed is a credible and "billionaire-resistant" alternative. Managed by DINAO, it runs on French servers, ready to federate.

Where are the data hosted?
On DINAO's infrastructure in France, in one of the available data centers. Your discussions and member accounts never leave the territory.
Are technical skills required?
No for community management: the interface and moderation tools are ready to use. DINAO handles installation, federation, security, and updates.
Can I customize the appearance?
Yes. PieFed allows you to customize themes and appearance, and to set rules specific to each community to reflect your organization's identity.
