Overview

What is Paisa?

Paisa is an open-source personal finance manager built on double-entry accounting and plain text accounting (on top of the ledger tool). Each transaction is recorded as debit/credit, ensuring accounts are always balanced and fully auditable.

Your data is stored as versioned text files (Git-compatible) and never leaves your instance. Paisa automatically fetches market rates for your assets (funds, stocks, savings plans) from multiple providers and calculates the value of your wealth over time.

The interface offers dashboards, budgets, and rich financial analysis, accessible via a modern web app or command line. Distributed under the AGPL-3.0 license, it is the ideal tool for managing your money while keeping full control over your data.

Does Paisa connect to my bank?

Not by default. Paisa works via manual entry or file imports (CSV, statements). Your data stays on your instance; no bank connection is required.

Do I need to know accounting?

Some knowledge helps, but Paisa guides double-entry input and provides ready-to-use budgets and dashboards. DINAO handles all technical aspects.

Where are my financial data hosted?

On DINAO's French infrastructure, in one of the available data centers. Your data never leaves the country.

Can I retrieve my data?

Yes. Paisa stores your entries in plain text, exportable and versionable with Git. No proprietary lock-in.

Can I change my plan?

Yes, you can upgrade or downgrade at any time based on data volume and the number of household users.
