NodeBB is a modern forum software built on Node.js. Where traditional forums (phpBB, vBulletin) reload pages, NodeBB relies on WebSockets to offer real-time discussions: new messages, notifications, and typing indicators appear instantly, without reloading. The result retains the classic forum format (categories, topics, threads) while providing an experience close to a messaging app.

The interface is natively responsive (mobile-first) and based on Bootstrap 5, with a theme engine allowing full customization of the appearance via template extensions and SCSS/CSS.
