What is imgproxy?
imgproxy is a standalone open-source server, fast and secure, dedicated to on-the-fly image resizing, processing, and conversion. Rather than pre-generating all variants of an image, imgproxy generates them on demand: you simply specify the processing options and output format directly in the image URL.
Written in Go and built on the libvips library, it is renowned for its speed and very low memory footprint. It automatically produces modern, lightweight formats like WebP and AVIF, reducing page weight and improving web performance. It reads images from local storage, HTTP, or S3-compatible storage.
Security is a core principle: imgproxy supports signed URLs, verifies the actual type and dimensions of images upon download, and protects against "image bombs". Self-hosted, it ensures that your visuals are processed and served from your servers in France, without relying on a third-party processing service or foreign image CDN.

What is imgproxy used for?
imgproxy resizes, crops, and converts your images on the fly, directly via the URL. You no longer need to pre-generate all variants: each format (WebP, AVIF…) is produced on demand and cached.
Do my images remain under my control?
Yes. imgproxy runs on your DINAO instance in France and reads your images from your storage (S3, HTTP, local). No images are sent to a third-party processing service.
Where are images processed and served?
On DINAO's infrastructure in France, in one of the available data centers. Processing and distribution do not leave the territory.
Are technical skills required?
Integration is done on the developer side (rewriting image URLs to imgproxy, signing key). DINAO handles installation, security, caching, and updates.
Can I change my plan or migrate?
Yes. You can scale up or down at any time. imgproxy does not store your source images — they remain with you — so there is no vendor lock-in.
