Overview

What is Grimoire?

Grimoire is a self-hosted bookmark manager designed for developers, researchers, and anyone looking to take back control of their links without relying on a third-party cloud service. When you add a URL, the application automatically extracts metadata from the page — title, description, main image, content — and stores it locally.

Bookmarks are organized into collections, categories, and tags, with fast fuzzy search, personal notes, and a dark mode. Grimoire is multi-user: each account has its own bookmarks and rankings, perfectly isolated.

On the integration side, a documented REST API (Swagger) and an official browser extension allow you to add links from any source. Built on SvelteKit and PocketBase, the entire stack deploys in a Docker container.

FAQ

You might be wondering…

Is Grimoire really self-hosted?

Yes. Your instance runs on DINAO's infrastructure in France, with no dependency on third-party clouds. Your links and metadata belong to you.

What happens when adding a bookmark?

Grimoire automatically retrieves the page title, description, and image, then stores them locally. Your links remain readable even if the original page disappears.

Can I import my existing bookmarks?

Yes. Import and export of bookmarks are supported, and an official browser extension allows you to save a page with one click.

Can multiple people use it?

Yes. Grimoire supports multiple accounts, each with its own isolated bookmarks, categories, and tags.

Are my data exportable?

Yes. Your bookmarks remain exportable at any time, and a documented REST API allows you to integrate them into your own tools. No proprietary lock-in.
