Overview

What is WebTop?

WebTop is a Docker container, maintained by LinuxServer.io, that provides a complete Linux desktop environment accessible from any modern web browser. No need to install a heavy client : your workstation is displayed directly in the tab.

Several desktop environments are offered — XFCE, KDE, MATE, i3 — on Alpine, Ubuntu, Fedora or Arch bases. The 'in-browser' graphical rendering relies on Selkies / KasmVNC technology, for a smooth experience via WebCodecs.

Because a remote desktop offers privileged access to the host, DINAO manages it with appropriate hardening, HTTPS, IP-restricted access, and updates. Result: a nomadic, clean, and secure Linux workstation, hosted in France.

FAQ

You might be wondering…

What is an 'in-browser' desktop?

WebTop runs a complete Linux desktop environment on the server and displays it in your browser. No heavy client to install: a URL and password are enough to access your workstation.

What are the use cases for WebTop?

Nomadic work, workstations for external contractors, disposable test environments, or simply a Linux workstation accessible from anywhere without managing physical hardware.

Is it secure?

A remote desktop provides privileged access: DINAO applies hardening, HTTPS, and recommends IP-restricted access. The instance is never exposed raw on the Internet.

Where is my data hosted?

On DINAO's infrastructure in France, in one of the available data centers. Your work files never leave the territory.

Are technical skills required?

No for usage: the desktop is ready to use. DINAO handles installation, security, and updates.
