Technical details
You might be wondering…
How is this different from a standard VPN?
A VPN provides access to an entire network; the Twingate connector applies a zero-trust model where each user can only reach explicitly authorized resources, without opening inbound ports. It is safer and more granular.
Is Twingate fully open-source?
The connector is deployed on your side (public Docker image), but Twingate's management plane remains a proprietary cloud service (freemium model). DINAO hosts and monitors the connector; you retain your Twingate account for the admin console.
Where are the data hosted?
The connector is hosted on DINAO's French infrastructure, in one of the available data centers, as close as possible to your internal resources. Traffic to your servers remains local and does not leave the country.
Do technical skills are required?
DINAO handles the connector deployment, redundancy, and updates. Access and user configuration is done from the Twingate console, which your team administers.
What happens if the connector goes down?
On Team and Enterprise tiers, multiple connectors ensure redundancy: access automatically fails over, without interruption for your users.
