Your YouTube video library, archived and indexed
A self-hosted YouTube media server that subscribes to your channels, downloads videos, and indexes everything, installed and maintained by DINAO. Your collection remains available and hosted in France, without accounts or ads.
What is TubeArchivist?
TubeArchivist is your self-hosted YouTube media server, designed to give you back control over your personal video collection. It subscribes to channels, automatically downloads videos via yt-dlp, and indexes everything with Elasticsearch, allowing you to search within titles, descriptions, subtitles, and comments.
Videos are served by an integrated web player, with viewing history and progress tracking — no YouTube account or internet connection is required once the download is complete. Metadata, thumbnails, subtitles, and comments are preserved alongside each file, and the tool integrates with Jellyfin and Plex for those who want to consolidate their archive with their other content.
TubeArchivist is designed to run with Docker. A minimal installation requires about 2 GB of RAM (4 GB recommended for medium to large libraries) and a dual-core CPU. In the DINAO managed version, your video library remains hosted in France, without ads or tracking.

Technical details
You might be wondering…
How does archiving work?
You subscribe to channels; TubeArchivist automatically downloads their videos via yt-dlp and preserves metadata, thumbnails, subtitles, and comments alongside each file.
Can I search within videos?
Yes. Thanks to Elasticsearch indexing, you can search within titles, descriptions, subtitles, and comments across your entire collection.
Do I need an internet connection to watch?
No. Once videos are downloaded, they play via the integrated web player, with history and progress tracking, without a YouTube account or internet connection.
Does it integrate with my media server?
Yes. TubeArchivist integrates with Jellyfin and Plex to organize your YouTube archive alongside your other content.
How much storage should I plan for?
It depends on the number and quality of videos. DINAO advises on an appropriate storage tier and can scale it as your collection grows.
