What is Topola Genealogy Viewer?

Topola Genealogy Viewer is an interactive and open-source genealogy viewer that allows you to explore the structure of a family from a GEDCOM file — the standard format exportable from nearly all genealogy software and websites.

It offers an hourglass chart, a view of all relatives, the ability to click on a person to center them, a side detail panel, and smooth animated transitions. The tree can be printed in full and exported as PDF, PNG, or SVG. Loading via URL generates convenient permalinks for sharing.

Technically, Topola is a TypeScript/JavaScript library that relies on D3 to produce SVG renders, and is integrated into an increasing number of web and desktop applications. In the DINAO managed version, your tree remains hosted in France and is not exposed on a public platform.
