Overview

What is TeslaMate?

TeslaMate is a self-hosted data recorder for Tesla vehicles. Written in Elixir, it connects to the Tesla API to continuously log highly detailed information: location history, charging sessions, driving statistics, battery degradation, and energy consumption.

Data is stored in a PostgreSQL database and published to a local MQTT broker, allowing it to be used in other home automation tools. Visualization and analysis are done via Grafana, which comes with a wide set of pre-built dashboards: trip map, charging curves, real-time range tracking.

Designed for self-hosting, TeslaMate keeps all your telemetry on your own infrastructure. No external analytics service has access to your trips, parking locations, or charging habits.

You might be wondering…

Are my trip data shared?

No. Your location history, trips, and charging data remain on your instance hosted in France. No third-party service has access to it, unlike many mobile apps.

How does TeslaMate retrieve data?

TeslaMate connects to the official Tesla API using your account. You authenticate once, and then trip and charging recording starts automatically.

Can I track multiple vehicles?

Yes. Depending on your plan, you can track one or multiple Tesla vehicles on the same instance, with dedicated dashboards.

Do I need technical skills?

No for usage: the Grafana dashboards are ready to view. DINAO handles installation, security, and updates. You can still create your own dashboards if you wish.

Can I export my history?

Yes. Your data is stored in PostgreSQL and remains exportable. No proprietary lock-in: you keep full control over your history.
