What is Spacedrive?

Spacedrive is an open-source, cross-platform file explorer powered by a distributed virtual file system (VDFS) written in Rust. It overlays your system's native explorer to unify search and navigation across local disks, external drives, NAS, and cloud storage (S3, Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, Azure, GCS) into a single interface, indexed as first-class volumes.

Its architecture is local-first and peer-to-peer: devices connect directly via QUIC / Iroh, with no central server or single point of failure. A daemon manages libraries and P2P connections, while a desktop Tauri app (Linux, macOS, Windows) and mobile app provide the user experience. The open-source edition guarantees zero tracking and zero analytics.

With DINAO, hosting focuses on coordination: your private relays and cloud core are deployed and maintained in France, while your files remain on your devices. It is the sovereign solution to regain control over data assets scattered across multiple disks and clouds.

Are my files copied to DINAO servers?

Not by default. Spacedrive is local-first: your devices hold the files. DINAO hosts the coordination (relays, cloud core) and index metadata, in France.
