Overview

What is Smocker?

Smocker (server mock) is a simple and efficient open-source HTTP mock server written in Go. It allows you to simulate any HTTP API to develop and test your applications and microservices without relying on the actual service — whether it is unavailable, still under development, or billed per call.

Its architecture relies on two ports: a mock port that exposes the routes you have declared, and a configuration port with a web interface to register your mocks. Definitions are written in YAML or JSON, with dynamic responses, delays, error codes, and call verification to easily reproduce edge cases.

Lightweight and containerized, Smocker deploys via Docker and integrates naturally into CI/CD pipelines for reproducible integration tests. It is the ideal tool for teams that want to advance autonomously and ensure the reliability of their integrations, on a private and sovereign instance.

FAQ

You might be wondering…

What is the purpose of a mock server like Smocker?

To simulate an HTTP API (a partner, a third-party service, a microservice not yet ready) to develop and test your integrations without relying on the actual service or consuming a paid quota.

How are simulated responses defined?

You declare mocks in YAML or JSON, via a web interface or the REST API. Smocker separates the port that serves the simulated routes from the configuration port used to register these mocks.

Can I use it in my CI/CD?

Yes. Smocker is lightweight and containerized: it integrates into your pipelines for reproducible integration tests and allows you to verify that your services call the correct routes.

Where is the data hosted?

On DINAO infrastructure in France, in one of the available data centers. Your instance remains isolated from production and the rest of the internet according to your rules.

Can I change my plan later?

Yes. You can upgrade or downgrade at any time, with no proprietary lock-in.
