Overview

What is SkySend?

SkySend is an open source end-to-end encrypted file and note sharing solution, a private alternative to WeTransfer or Firefox Send. Its principle: files and notes are encrypted directly in the browser using AES-256-GCM before reaching the server, following a strict zero-knowledge architecture.

Minimalist and fast, SkySend works without an account or telemetry. It offers expiring links, password protection, Markdown notes, multi-file and folder uploads, configurable view limits, and a « Burn After Reading » mode for notes that self-destruct after a single read.

Licensed under AGPL, it supports S3 storage, optional SSO to restrict uploaders, and deploys easily via Docker. Designed for privacy-conscious users — journalists, lawyers, technical teams, and businesses — SkySend guarantees secure sharing without relying on a third-party service.

FAQ

You might be wondering…

What does « zero-knowledge » mean exactly?

Your files and notes are encrypted in your browser (AES-256-GCM) before being sent. The server — and thus DINAO — never holds the key or the plaintext content: it stores unreadable data.

Do I need to create an account to share?

No. SkySend works without an account by default, making it simple and fast. You can, however, enable SSO to restrict who is allowed to upload files.

Do my shares self-destruct?

Yes, depending on your settings: expiring links, view limits, password protection, and « Burn After Reading » mode which destroys the note after a single read.

Where are the data hosted?

On DINAO infrastructure in France, in one of the available datacenters. Your encrypted content never leaves the territory.

Can I change my plan later?

Yes. You can upgrade or downgrade at any time, with no proprietary lock-in.
