What is RustDesk?

RustDesk is a free remote desktop solution, written in Rust, presented as the open source alternative to TeamViewer and AnyDesk. It allows you to take control of remote workstations and servers with end-to-end encryption and excellent performance, all without per-device subscriptions.

Its key advantage is the self-hostable relay server (hbbs and hbbr components): you can route all connections through your own infrastructure rather than a public cloud. RustDesk manages direct peer-to-peer connections when possible, and falls back to the relay otherwise, to work even behind strict firewalls.

Cross-platform (Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS and browser), RustDesk offers file transfer, device book, groups, access control, and logging. Its professional server version adds a web console, SSO, and fine-grained permission management, ideal for IT teams and support providers.
