What is Picsur?
Picsur is a self-hosted image hosting and sharing service, presented as a private alternative to Imgur. It offers image upload, conversion, and sharing via direct links, with account and permission management.
It supports numerous formats (JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF, TIFF, HEIF, BMP, QOI) with on-the-fly conversion, and includes editing features (resizing, rotation, mirroring, grayscale). Regarding privacy, it strips EXIF metadata and manages automatic image expiration.
Built in TypeScript (NestJS backend, Angular frontend) on PostgreSQL, Picsur integrates with ShareX, offers a public gallery and albums, light/dark mode, and anonymous or registered user upload modes. Note: the upstream project is no longer actively maintained; DINAO handles its operation and monitoring.

How does Picsur differ from Imgur?
Picsur is self-hosted: your images remain on your DINAO instance in France, without ads or content exploitation. You control accounts, permissions, and expiration.
Are my photo's metadata removed?
Yes. Picsur removes EXIF metadata from images (including geolocation), protecting the privacy of those sharing them.
Where are the images stored?
On DINAO's infrastructure in France, in one of the available datacenters. Your images never leave the territory.
Can I use it with ShareX?
Yes. Picsur integrates with ShareX to automate uploads and instantly retrieve a sharing link. Albums and public galleries are also available.
Is the project maintained?
Picsur is no longer actively developed upstream, but remains stable and functional. DINAO handles deployment, monitoring, and backups, and supports you with an alternative if needed.
