What is Passbolt?

Passbolt is an open source password and secret manager designed for teams, with a security-first approach. Rather than a single master password, it relies on OpenPGP encryption (public/private keys + passphrase) — and the private key is never stored on the server.

Secrets are shared within the team through a taxonomy of folders, roles, and permission-based access control (RBAC). Auto-fill, password generation, and backup are available via the browser extension and desktop and mobile apps.

Designed for enterprise, Passbolt offers a JSON API, CLI, and SDKs to automate secret rotation in your CI/CD pipelines, as well as LDAP/AD and SSO integration. Fully self-hostable (Docker, Kubernetes, Linux) including in air-gapped environments, it undergoes regular public security audits. AGPL-3.0 license.

You might be wondering…

Can DINAO read my passwords?

No. OpenPGP encryption takes place client-side, and the private key remains with your users. Even as the host, we never have access to the content of your secrets.

How does team sharing work?

Via folders, roles, and permissions (RBAC). Each secret is re-encrypted for authorized users only. You have fine-grained control over who sees what.

Where are my secrets hosted?

On DINAO's French infrastructure, in one of the available data centers. Your data never leaves the country.

Can I integrate it with my tools?

Yes. Passbolt provides a JSON API, CLI, and SDKs to automate secret rotation in your CI/CD pipelines. LDAP/AD and SSO are available as options.

Can I change plans or export my data?

Yes. You can change tiers at any time, and your data remains exportable. Passbolt is open source, with no proprietary lock-in.
