Your code snippets, powered by Git
A self-hosted pastebin powered by Opengist, installed and maintained by DINAO. A private alternative to GitHub Gist where each snippet is a Git repository—hosted in France.
What is Opengist?
Opengist is a self-hosted pastebin powered by Git, an open source alternative to GitHub Gist. All snippets are stored in a Git repository that can be read and modified using standard Git commands or via the web interface. Create public, unlisted, or private snippets, which you can initialize, clone, pull, and push via Git over HTTP or SSH.
The tool offers syntax highlighting for hundreds of languages (automatic detection, manual override possible), Markdown and CSV rendering, revision history, like and fork functionality, snippet embedding in your pages, and raw or ZIP file downloads. An integrated Bleve index allows searching all gists by content, filename, or language, without an external search engine.
Regarding access, Opengist supports login via GitHub, GitLab, Gitea, OIDC, or LDAP and account security via TOTP or WebAuthn. It uses SQLite by default (no external database required), with options for PostgreSQL or MySQL. Deployed in a dedicated container, monitored and updated by DINAO.

Technical details
You might be wondering…
How does Opengist differ from GitHub Gist?
Opengist is the self-hosted, open source equivalent of GitHub Gist: each snippet is a real Git repository, but hosted by you, in France. Your code snippets never leave on a third-party platform.
Can I push my snippets via Git?
Yes. You can initialize, clone, pull, and push your snippets via Git over HTTP or SSH, exactly like a standard repository, or edit them in the web interface. Revision history is preserved.
Can my snippets remain private?
Yes. Each snippet can be public, private, or unlisted. You precisely control who can discover and view it, and you can restrict access via SSO/LDAP.
What database is used?
SQLite by default (no additional container required), which is sufficient for most use cases. Higher-tier plans allow switching to PostgreSQL or MySQL for large volumes.
Where are the data hosted?
On DINAO's infrastructure in France, in one of the available data centers. Your snippets never leave the country.
