What is OpenCloud?
OpenCloud is an open source file sharing and collaboration platform, launched in early 2025 by about fifteen developers from the ownCloud Infinite Scale team. It aims to provide enterprise-grade file sharing focused on security, simplicity, and digital sovereignty, leveraging thirty years of open source expertise.
Technically, OpenCloud stands out with a compiled Go binary, no PHP dependencies, no traditional SQL database, and thus no SQL injection attack surface. It is true open source, without dual licensing or proprietary binaries. It offers real-time document collaboration (via Collabora Online or OnlyOffice), team workspaces, granular access controls, and multi-platform synchronization.
The spiritual successor to the community-driven ownCloud, OpenCloud constitutes a credible alternative to Nextcloud and ownCloud for organizations committed to open source values and data control.

What is the difference with Nextcloud or ownCloud?
OpenCloud was founded in 2025 by former developers of ownCloud Infinite Scale. Unlike the PHP used in standard Nextcloud/ownCloud, it relies on a modern Go binary, which is lighter and has a reduced attack surface, while remaining fully open source.
Can I co-edit documents online?
Yes. OpenCloud integrates with Collabora Online and OnlyOffice to edit documents, spreadsheets, and presentations together, directly in the browser, without installing any software.
Can my users synchronize their files?
Yes. Synchronization clients for Windows, macOS, Linux, and mobile keep files up to date across all devices, with fine-grained rights management and sharing.
Where are the data hosted?
On DINAO's infrastructure in France, in one of the available data centers. Your files and metadata do not leave the country, in compliance with GDPR.
Can I migrate from ownCloud or Nextcloud?
Since OpenCloud originates from the ownCloud ecosystem, migration is feasible. DINAO assesses your case and supports you in transferring your files and accounts.
