Overview

What is Monica?

Monica is an open-source Personal Relationship Management (PRM) system designed to document and maintain your relationships with your loved ones. It is a private and personal space, "for your eyes only, no ads" — explicitly not a social network.

The tool offers management of contacts and their relationships (family, friends, spouse), an activity and meeting log, reminders (birthdays, key dates), notes and a diary, tasks, as well as tracking of gifts and debts. You can also record contact details, work, family, pets, and attach documents and photos.

Recent versions bring multiple vaults, custom fields, multi-user support, multi-currency, and over 27 languages. The target audience is strictly personal use: individuals who want to better maintain their private relationships despite a lack of time.

Technically, Monica is built on PHP / Laravel with a Vue.js and Blade frontend, a MySQL / MariaDB database, and Redis recommended for caching and queues. The project is distributed under the AGPL-3.0 license. Do not confuse it with the homonymous commercial assistant "Monica AI", which has no connection.
