Overview

What is Memos?

Memos is a self-hosted open-source note-taking tool focused on rapid capture, featuring a chronological interface (« timeline-first »): you open, write, and finish without navigating through a folder hierarchy. The emphasis is on data ownership and portability.

Notes are stored in Markdown, ensuring portability, with zero telemetry. The deployment is ultra-lightweight — a single Go binary from an approximately 20 MB Docker image — and comprehensive REST and gRPC APIs enable extensibility and automation.

Built in Go (backend) and TypeScript / React (frontend), Memos supports SQLite (default), MySQL, or PostgreSQL. It deploys via Docker, Docker Compose, or Kubernetes, manages multi-user access with dedicated administration, and supports SSO / OAuth provider configuration. MIT License.
