What is Mail-Archiver?
Mail-Archiver is an open-source web application for email archiving, search, and export from multiple accounts. It synchronizes mailbox folders while preserving their tree structure, manages attachments, enables mailbox migration between servers, and provides a dashboard (statistics, storage monitoring, user management).
It connects to servers via MailKit (IMAP) and to Microsoft 365 via the Graph API (with tenant-level bulk import), and can import MBox/EML files. On the operational side, it offers advanced search with filters and preview, export in mbox or zipped EML, and retention policies capable of automatically purging the mail server after a set period.
Technically, Mail-Archiver is built on ASP.NET Core (C#) and stores emails in PostgreSQL. It handles multi-account / multi-user management with per-account permissions, SSO OpenID Connect, and access logs for compliance. Lacking native HTTPS, it runs behind a TLS reverse proxy — a security setup that DINAO handles.

Which mail servers can I archive?
Any IMAP server and Microsoft 365 mailboxes via the Graph API (with tenant-level bulk import). You can also import existing MBox/EML files.
Where are my archives kept?
In a PostgreSQL database hosted by DINAO in France. They never leave the territory and remain exportable in open formats (mbox/EML).
Can I free up space on my mailboxes?
Yes. Retention policies can automatically delete messages older than a configured period from the mail server, once archived safely.
Is access secure and traceable?
Yes. DINAO places the application behind a TLS reverse proxy (HTTPS), encrypts credentials, and the tool maintains access logs. SSO OIDC and per-account permissions are available.
Am I locked into the solution?
No. mbox and EML exports are standard formats: your archives remain portable, with no proprietary lock-in.
