What is Isso?
Isso is a lightweight, self-hosted commenting system designed as a privacy-respecting alternative to Disqus. It integrates into any site — blog, editorial site, or static page — with just a few lines of JavaScript, without slowing down page load times or imposing advertisements.
For readers, Isso offers a modern experience: Markdown editing, threaded discussions, the ability to edit or delete their own comment within a configurable timeframe, upvotes and downvotes, and email notifications. No third-party account is required to participate.
For administrators, the tool provides email moderation (approve or delete with one click), anti-spam filtering, and import from a Disqus export to migrate without losing history. Written in Python, Isso is resource-efficient and deploys as a container, making it a sovereign and cost-effective commenting service.

Where are the data hosted?
On DINAO's infrastructure in France, in one of the available data centers. Your readers' comments and contact details never leave the country.
