What is Home Assistant?
Home Assistant is an open-source smart home solution that places local control and privacy first. Driven by a community of enthusiasts and DIYers, it unifies over 1,000 brands and device types within a single interface and fully customizable drag-and-drop dashboards.
Its advanced automation engine allows you to create rich conditional scenarios: turn on lights at sunset or upon your arrival, receive an alert if a door remains open, control heating, etc. The built-in voice assistant Assist enables natural language control, with support for Alexa and Google Assistant, companion mobile apps, and NFC tag automation.
Key advantage: all data remains local, with no mandatory cloud storage — devices communicate locally, with cloud usage only when necessary. Home Assistant is a non-profit project under the auspices of the Open Home Foundation, ensuring its independence: it cannot be sold or acquired.
