Overview

What is Gokapi?

Gokapi is a self-hosted file sharing service, lightweight and secure, presented as an alternative to the former Firefox Send. Its philosophy: share files via links over which you maintain full control, without entrusting your data to a public service.

Each share can be limited by an expiration date and a maximum number of downloads, protected by a password and encrypted — up to end-to-end encryption for the most sensitive exchanges. Gokapi automatically deduplicates identical files and offers an API to automate uploads and sharing.

For storage, it relies on either the local disk or an S3-compatible backend (AWS, Backblaze B2). Distributed as a Docker container, it is the ideal tool for sending large files to clients or partners while remaining sovereign and GDPR compliant.

Do shared files stay online indefinitely?

No. You set an expiration date and/or a maximum number of downloads for each link. Once this threshold is passed, the file is no longer accessible — ideal for one-off exchanges.

Are my exchanges encrypted?

Yes. You can protect each share with a password and encryption, including end-to-end encryption for the most sensitive files.

Where are the data hosted?

On DINAO infrastructure in France, in one of the available data centers. Your shared files do not leave the territory.

Do technical skills are required?

No. The upload and sharing interface is immediate. DINAO manages installation, storage, security and updates.
