What is GIMP?
GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) is the reference free image editing software, considered the major open-source alternative to Adobe Photoshop. Free and cross-platform, it offers a complete environment for photo retouching, composition, and graphic design.
GIMP provides a professional toolkit: advanced layer and mask management, precise selection tools, curves and levels, filters and effects, cloning, transformation, color management… It supports numerous image formats (PNG, JPEG, TIFF, PSD, and more) and allows you to automate repetitive tasks through its Script-Fu and Python scripting languages.
Highly extensible via a rich plugin ecosystem, GIMP adapts to both occasional retouching and demanding production workflows. Made available in the cloud by DINAO on a remote workstation, it allows you to share a powerful graphical environment without heavy installation on employees' machines.

This application requires privileged access to the host machine, which is incompatible with managed shared hosting. It is installed on a VPS (virtual private server) that you administer: DINAO delivers it with Docker and the management panel of your choice, and you install and maintain GIMP yourself. The VPS is not managed by DINAO unless you add the managed-services option when ordering.

How do I access GIMP remotely?
Via a secure remote desktop access from your browser or a dedicated client. The graphical environment runs on the DINAO instance; you work as if on a local workstation, without heavy installation on your machine.
Does GIMP replace Photoshop?
GIMP is a professional and free image editor covering most retouching and creation needs (layers, masks, filters, scripts). It is a credible and free alternative to Photoshop for many use cases.
Are my files secure?
Yes. Your projects are stored on the DINAO infrastructure in France, encrypted and backed up. They do not leave the territory, in compliance with GDPR.
Can I install plugins or scripts?
Yes. GIMP is extensible via plugins and scripts (Script-Fu, Python). DINAO can configure your environment according to your production workflow.
Can multiple people use it?
