Overview

What is Gerrit?

Gerrit Code Review is an open-source (Apache 2.0 license) code review and web repository management tool for Git-based projects. Highly configurable and extensible, it has become the reference platform for major projects like Android and Chromium.

Gerrit facilitates review by displaying changes in side-by-side mode and allowing any reviewer to add inline comments. Through votes, labels, and submit rules, no change is merged into the main repository without validation: code quality is thus guaranteed from end to end, without manual merging by the maintainer.

On the integration side, Gerrit interfaces with CI/CD systems (Jenkins, GitLab CI…), exposes REST and SSH APIs, hooks, and plugins, and supports SSO, OIDC, and LDAP authentication. It deploys in a Docker container for a robust and controlled review platform.
