Overview

What is ExcaliDash?

ExcaliDash is a self-hosted workspace built around the Excalidraw editor, the hand-drawn style whiteboard popular for architecture diagrams, workshops and visual brainstorming.

Where Excalidraw alone keeps drawings in the browser, ExcaliDash saves them on the server: each user has an account, organises drawings into collections, finds their history and shares them with colleagues. Live collaboration goes through the instance's own server.

Hosted by DINAO, ExcaliDash is delivered protected by a login, backed up daily and kept up to date, on our servers in France.

Outbound email requires an external service

Outbound SMTP is blocked by design on DINAO's shared hosting (anti-spam protection for all our customers). For the email-sending features of ExcaliDash (notifications, campaigns…), you will need to subscribe to an email routing service outside the DINAO infrastructure (e.g. Mautic hosted elsewhere, SendGrid, Brevo, a third-party SMTP relay…).

Detection: variable MAIL_FROM détectée (service backend) + variable SMTP_HOST détectée (service backend) + variable SMTP_PORT détectée (service backend) + variable SMTP_SECURE détectée (service backend) + variable SMTP_USER détectée (service backend) + variable SMTP_PASSWORD détectée (service backend).

Frequently asked questions

You might be wondering…

What is the difference with Excalidraw?

ExcaliDash uses the Excalidraw editor (hand-drawn style) and adds what a team needs: drawings saved on the server, user accounts, collections, version history and live collaboration.

How does the first login work?

On delivery, the instance is already protected by a login. You open its address, then create the administrator account with a one-time code shown in your container's log in your client area (valid for 15 minutes, renewed automatically). You then create your team's accounts.

Can several people work at the same time?

Yes. Several people work on the same drawing and see each other's changes live. Exchanges go through your instance, not through a server of the publisher.

Where are my drawings stored?

In your instance's database, on DINAO's infrastructure in France. It is part of your container's daily backup.

Can we log in with the company account?

Yes: ExcaliDash accepts an OpenID Connect identity provider (Microsoft Entra, Keycloak, Authentik…), alone or alongside local accounts. It is configured through the container's variables.

Can I get my drawings back?

Yes. Drawings can be imported and exported from the application: you are not locked into the tool.

Is this application tested before it is offered?

Yes. Version 0.6.7 was deployed on our infrastructure on 1 November 2026 and its start-up was checked automatically: every expected service must respond for this page to carry this statement. The deployment template used was last updated on 1 November 2026. Each new version released by the publisher triggers this test again: the date above therefore follows the version actually offered.

What exactly does the managed service cover?

DINAO's managed service is included in the price of your container. It covers the technical operation of the server and its software layers: operating system, database, runtime environment and application (installation, security updates, backups, monitoring). It does not include help with the day-to-day use of the application, which remains the customer's responsibility. It is provided on a best-effort basis, under an obligation of means: your requests are handled according to their nature and criticality, in the order of priority set by DINAO, taking particular account of the impact on service availability. No response or restoration time is guaranteed at this level. Technical monitoring is automatic, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week: an outage is detected without any action on your part. Human interventions take place Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays.

If your business needs a guaranteed response time, two “Support responsiveness” options can be taken out when ordering or during the contract:

– Priority handling (€15 excl. VAT/month): handling by a technician within 2 hours (guaranteed intervention time, GTI);
– Enhanced priority handling (€35 excl. VAT/month): handling within 30 minutes and restoration within 4 hours (GTI and guaranteed restoration time, GTR).

These times are counted only from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays. Time not elapsed at 5 p.m. resumes on the next working day: with a 2-hour GTI, a request received at 4:30 p.m. is handled at the latest at 10:30 a.m. on the next working day. The GTI guarantees the start of handling, not the resolution. For extended backup retention or a copy on a second site, contact our Application Container department.
