What is ErsatzTV?
ErsatzTV is an open source application that allows you to create your own live television channels from a personal media library. Where a standard player offers on-demand content, ErsatzTV recreates the experience of linear television: a program grid broadcast continuously, 24/7.
The application connects to your Plex, Jellyfin, or Emby servers, or directly to file folders, then lets you compose channels using blocks, playlists, schedules, and fillers. It generates an HLS stream and an M3U playlist, as well as an EPG (XMLTV) program guide, compatible with most IPTV players.
ErsatzTV relies on FFmpeg for transcoding (software or hardware via GPU) and offers customization options: bumpers, watermarks, transitions between programs, for a result close to a real channel.
Host ErsatzTV at DINAO
No managed container for ErsatzTV: this application is installed on a VPS hosted in France (2 vCPU / 2 Go / 5 Go minimum).
Application available on a VPS
This application requires privileged access to the host machine, which is incompatible with managed shared hosting. It is installed on a VPS (virtual private server) that you administer: DINAO delivers it with Docker and the management panel of your choice, and you install and maintain ErsatzTV yourself. The VPS is not managed by DINAO unless you add the managed-services option when ordering.

What is ErsatzTV?
An application that turns your media library into live TV channels: you schedule a grid, and ErsatzTV generates a continuous IPTV stream readable in Plex, Jellyfin, VLC, or an IPTV box.
Does ErsatzTV provide content?
No. ErsatzTV only streams your own files or those from your Plex/Jellyfin/Emby libraries. You remain responsible for the content rights.
Do I need a GPU?
Not necessarily. Software transcoding is sufficient for a few channels. For many simultaneous streams, a GPU (optional or dedicated) accelerates transcoding.
Where are my data hosted?
On DINAO's French infrastructure. Your catalog and channels never leave the country.
Can I change plans or export my data?
Yes. You can upgrade or downgrade at any time, and your configuration remains exportable — no proprietary lock-in.
