Overview

What is Emby?

Emby (formerly Media Browser) is a personal media server that organizes and streams a library of movies, series, music, and photos to a wide range of devices. It automatically fetches metadata and cover art, and applies real-time transcoding to adapt each playback to the screen and client bandwidth.

The server, written in C# / .NET, manages live TV and recording (DVR), DLNA sharing, parental controls, and remote access. It comes with official client apps for Android, Apple TV, Roku, Fire TV, LG and Samsung TVs, the web, and more.

Note: Emby Server is currently proprietary software (closed-source since v3.5.3), offered with a free tier and a paid "Emby Premiere" option. For a fully open-source alternative, the Jellyfin fork can be considered — DINAO can host either one.

On DINAO's infrastructure in France, in one of the available data centers. Your media and viewing history never leave the territory.

Can I manage multiple family members?

Yes. Each member has their own profile, progress tracking, and, if needed, restrictions via parental controls. Content can be filtered by user.

Can I change my plan or retrieve my files?

Yes. You can upgrade or downgrade at any time, and your media files remain yours, exportable — no proprietary lock-in on your content.
