A stable domain name for your moving IP
A dynamic DNS service powered by DuckDNS, installed and maintained by DINAO. Keep a fixed subdomain that follows your changing IP address — on French infrastructure, GDPR compliant.
What is DuckDNS?
DuckDNS is a free and open-source dynamic DNS (Dynamic DNS) service that allows pointing a subdomain name to an IP address that may change. It is the ideal solution to make a server, NAS, or self-hosted service reachable via a stable name behind a dynamic IP connection.
The principle is deliberately simple : with each IP address change, an authenticated HTTP call using a token updates the DNS record associated with your subdomain. This update can be triggered by a lightweight client, a cron script, your internet router, or your NAS — resolution follows within moments. DuckDNS supports both IPv4 and IPv6.
Beyond remote access, DuckDNS is highly appreciated as a companion for Let's Encrypt : through TXT record management, it allows responding to ACME challenges and obtaining valid HTTPS certificates (including wildcard) on dynamic connections. Lightweight, reliable, and requiring no complex configuration, it makes self-hosting accessible.

Technical details
You might be wondering…
What is dynamic DNS used for?
To keep a stable domain name when your IP address changes regularly (residential connection, server without a fixed IP). You always access your service via the same name, even after an IP change.
How is the IP updated?
Via a simple authenticated HTTP call using a token, triggered by a lightweight client, a cron job, your router, or your NAS. DNS resolution follows within moments.
Can I obtain an HTTPS certificate for it?
Yes. DuckDNS supports TXT records, which allows validating ACME challenges and obtaining Let's Encrypt certificates, including wildcard, on a dynamic connection.
Is IPv6 supported?
Yes. DuckDNS supports both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses for your subdomains.
Where is the service operated?
On DINAO infrastructure in France, in one of the available datacenters. Your records and tokens remain under your control and GDPR compliant.
