What is draw.io?

draw.io (also known as diagrams.net or Drawio) is one of the most popular open source diagram editors in the world. It allows you to create flowcharts, org charts, network schemas, UML, BPMN, ERD or wireframes thanks to an intuitive interface and a very comprehensive shape library — a direct alternative to Microsoft Visio.

The application is entirely client-side: in the self-hosted version, it runs on your own server and does not transmit any data to a third-party service. Files use the open .drawio (XML) format and can be imported/exported as Visio, PNG, SVG, PDF or HTML, ensuring total freedom from lock-in.

draw.io integrates naturally into your ecosystem: diagram storage in Nextcloud, GitLab or a file system, and iframe integration into your internal applications. Deployed as a container by DINAO, it offers a powerful, free and fully sovereign diagramming tool.
