Overview

What is Docmost?

Docmost is an open source collaborative wiki and knowledge base software, presented as a sovereign alternative to Confluence and Notion. It enables teams to create, organize, and share their internal documentation in a modern environment fully under their control.

At its core is real-time collaboration: multiple people can write the same document simultaneously using a rich editor, add online comments and mentions to their pages, and insert diagrams via Draw.io, Excalidraw, or Mermaid. Content is organized into dedicated spaces per team or project, with a nested page tree and powerful full-text search.

On the administration side, Docmost offers fine-grained permission management, user groups, SSO authentication, as well as Markdown and HTML import and export. Built for self-hosting (Docker deployment), it ensures that an organization's documentation remains its sole and exclusive property.

FAQ

You might be wondering…

How does Docmost differ from Confluence or Notion?

Docmost is open source and self-hosted: your content stays with you, in France, without a per-user subscription that skyrockets and without dependence on a US vendor. Features (spaces, co-editing, permissions) cover the essential use cases.

Can multiple people edit at the same time?

Yes. Docmost supports real-time co-editing: multiple members can write and comment on the same document simultaneously.

Can I import my existing documentation?

Yes. Docmost allows import and export in Markdown and HTML format, facilitating the takeover of an existing database and the retrieval of your content.

How are access rights managed?

By spaces and groups, with SSO/OIDC and fine-grained permissions, to give each team strictly necessary access.

Where is my data hosted?

On the DINAO infrastructure in France, in one of the available data centers, in an isolated container. Your pages do not leave the territory.
