Your database backups, hosted in France
The database backup solution powered by Databasus, installed and maintained by DINAO. Your backups and their verification remain under your control — automated, encrypted, and truly restorable, on a sovereign infrastructure.
What is Databasus?
Databasus (formerly Postgresus, renamed at the end of 2025 upon expanding beyond PostgreSQL) is an open-source, self-hosted tool that automates the entire lifecycle of database backups. Where one used to cobble together cron scripts, it provides a web interface to schedule, compress, encrypt, manage retention, and monitor everything.
Its most distinctive feature is the restore verification: Databasus actually restores each backup into a disposable container and checks its contents, ensuring it is usable when you need it. It supports PITR (Point-in-Time Recovery via WAL) for PostgreSQL, as well as retention strategies based on time, count, or GFS.
On the technical side, Databasus is written in Go (Apache 2.0 license) and supports PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, and MongoDB. Backups can be stored locally, on S3, Cloudflare R2, SFTP, NAS, or via Rclone, with AES-256-GCM encryption, read-only database access, workspaces, RBAC, audit logging, and notifications (email, Slack, Discord, Telegram, webhooks).

Technical details
You might be wondering…
How is Databasus better than a homegrown backup script?
Databasus automates the entire backup lifecycle — scheduling, compression, encryption, rotation — via a web interface, with monitoring and notifications. Crucially, it actually verifies that your backups are restorable, which a simple cron script never does.
Which databases are supported?
PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, and MongoDB, in their current versions. You manage your entire database fleet from a single interface, with various storage targets (local, S3, SFTP, NAS…).
What is "restore verification"?
Databasus restores each backup into a disposable container and checks the content (number of rows) to ensure it is usable. You avoid the classic unpleasant surprise: a backup that exists but cannot be restored.
Do my databases have to be hosted with DINAO?
No. Databasus connects to your databases in read-only mode, whether they are with DINAO or elsewhere, as long as they are accessible. The backups, however, are stored on the target you choose, in France by default.
Can I change plans or retrieve my backups?
Yes. You can upgrade or downgrade at any time, and your backups remain yours, exportable — no proprietary lock-in.
