What is dashdot?
dashdot (stylized as « dash. ») is a minimalist and polished server monitoring dashboard, described by its author as « the simplest way to monitor your single-node setup ». Where tools like Grafana or Netdata aim for comprehensiveness and fleet-wide supervision, dashdot takes the opposite approach: a lightweight and beautiful dashboard designed for a single server — typically a small VPS or private server.
The interface displays essential system metrics in real time: CPU usage, RAM memory, disk space, network activity, GPU performance, operating system information, uptime, and host machine details. All presented in a contemporary glassmorphism style, with dynamic backgrounds and smooth animations, making monitoring visually appealing without sacrificing readability.
dashdot is built with React on the frontend and Node.js/Express on the backend. This architecture ensures good responsiveness even on modest hardware, and the application runs entirely offline: everything stays on your machine, with no data transmitted externally. Configuration is done via environment variables, making it very easy to adapt.
The preferred deployment method is Docker: a lightweight image (~210 MB), multi-architecture (x86 and ARM64). Under the MIT license, dashdot is aimed at anyone seeking an elegant, instant monitoring dashboard without complex configuration — without the overhead of a full supervision stack. Application available on a VPS
This application requires privileged access to the host machine, which is incompatible with managed shared hosting. It is installed on a VPS (virtual private server) that you administer: DINAO delivers it with Docker and the management panel of your choice, and you install and maintain dashdot yourself. The VPS is not managed by DINAO unless you add the managed-services option when ordering.

Can dashdot monitor multiple servers?
No, dashdot is designed for a single node. For multiple servers, DINAO deploys one instance per machine (or a dedicated multi-node tool).
Does monitoring data leave my machine?
No. dashdot runs entirely offline: no data is transmitted externally, everything stays local and hosted in France.
How is it configured?
Entirely via environment variables (widgets displayed, network/storage options, theme). DINAO pre-configures it for you in the container.
What resources does it consume?
Very little: it runs comfortably on a micro-VPS (~210 MB image, a few hundred MB of RAM), without a heavy metrics database.
Does it keep a history of metrics?
dashdot mainly displays real-time status and recent trends; it is not designed as a long-term historical system like Prometheus.
