What is Coder?
Coder is a self-hosted platform that enables teams to provision cloud development environments on their own infrastructure. Environments are defined in Terraform, making them reproducible, versioned, and centrally governed — whether they are virtual machines, Docker containers, or Kubernetes pods.
Designed for productivity, Coder accelerates developer onboarding and optimizes costs through the automatic shutdown of inactive resources. It natively integrates with market IDEs via a VS Code extension, JetBrains plugins, and Dev Containers support, with connections established via Wireguard tunnel.
The platform offers centralized governance, cost tracking, and an audit log, as well as the integration of code AI agents that run within your control plane without exposing model credentials. Developed primarily in Go and TypeScript, it relies on PostgreSQL and adapts to the most demanding infrastructures.

What is a cloud development environment?
It is a development workstation (code, dependencies, tools) that runs on a central server rather than on the developer's machine. It is accessible from VS Code, JetBrains, or a browser, making environments reproducible and secure.
Do I need to change development tools?
No. Coder integrates with VS Code and JetBrains as well as Dev Containers. Your developers keep their usual IDE; only the execution environment is offloaded to the server.
Where are the data hosted?
On DINAO infrastructure in France, in one of the available datacenters. Your code and workspaces never leave the territory.
How to control costs?
Coder automatically stops inactive resources and provides cost tracking and centralized governance. You pay only for the capacity actually used by your developers.
Can I change plans or export my data?
Yes. You can upgrade or downgrade at any time, and your data remains exportable — no proprietary lock-in.
