What is Blinko?
Blinko is a personal, self-hosted, and privacy-focused note-taking tool that leverages artificial intelligence to capture and organize ideas. Built in TypeScript on Next.js / React, it allows you to quickly jot down fleeting thoughts while maintaining full control over your data through self-hosting.
Its flagship feature is AI-enhanced search (RAG, Retrieval Augmented Generation): you query your notes in natural language and instantly retrieve the information you're looking for. The AI engine can be connected to Ollama (local model) or OpenAI.
Blinko supports full Markdown, note import/export, scheduled automatic backups, and selective public sharing. Built with Tauri, it also works as a desktop and mobile app. The database relies on PostgreSQL and deployment is done via Docker.

This application uses AI
The container hosts the application, not the AI engine (which requires dedicated GPUs) : inference is handled externally, with your own provider key. Prioritize a sovereign engine — Mistral AI, NumSpot, Scaleway, or OVHcloud AI Endpoints (France, GDPR) ; an international provider (OpenAI, Anthropic…) only if a specific capability requires it. Inference subscriptions are not included in hosting.

You might be wondering…
Are my notes used to train an AI?
No. Your notes remain private on your instance. If you enable AI search in local mode (Ollama), no data leaves the server. In external API mode, only the queried content passes through to the chosen provider.
How does AI search work?
Blinko uses RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation): you ask a question in natural language and the tool finds the relevant notes. The engine can be a local model (Ollama) hosted by DINAO or an external API.
Can I remain 100% sovereign?
Yes. By connecting Blinko to a local open-weight model served by Ollama on your DINAO instance, all your notes and their processing remain in France, with no calls to external services.
Can I export my notes?
Yes. Blinko supports importing and exporting your notes, as well as scheduled database backups. No proprietary locking.
Are technical skills required?
No for usage: the interface is ready to use. DINAO handles installation, security, the PostgreSQL database, and updates, including connection to the AI model.
