What is Audiobookshelf?

Audiobookshelf is a self-hosted and open-source server dedicated to your audiobooks and podcasts. It centralizes your library and makes it accessible everywhere, with on-the-fly streaming of all audio formats and playback resumption.

The project provides open-source mobile apps for Android and iOS, a progressive web app (PWA), and Chromecast support. It manages search and podcast subscriptions with automatic downloading of new episodes, progress synchronization across devices, multi-user support with custom permissions, and basic ebook support.

Fully free and open source — including apps — Audiobookshelf automatically backs up metadata and deploys easily via Docker, making it a private and controlled alternative to proprietary listening platforms.
