What is Actual Budget?
Actual Budget is a local-first personal finance management tool, 100% free and open-source, written in Node.js. It features synchronization that propagates your changes across devices effortlessly, while remaining usable offline as a PWA.
Its flagship method is the zero-based envelope budgeting approach, inspired by YNAB: every euro available is assigned a purpose. The tool offers bank synchronization via GoCardless for European and British banks, import of transactions in QIF, OFX, QFX, CAMT.053, and CSV formats, budgeting rules, scheduled transactions, split transactions, and detailed reporting dashboards.
Originally a commercial product by James Long, Actual Budget was open-sourced in 2022 and has since relied on an active community. It offers multi-device synchronization with optional end-to-end encryption — ideal for those who want to manage their budget without entrusting their data to a third-party service.

Yes. Actual Budget is local-first and self-hosted: your accounts and transactions remain on your DINAO instance in France, with optional end-to-end encryption. Nothing is sold or shared.
Can I sync my French banks?
Yes, via GoCardless for EU/UK banks. You can also import your statements in QIF, OFX, QFX, CAMT.053, or CSV formats.
Where is the data hosted?
On DINAO's French infrastructure, in one of the available data centers. Your finances never leave the country.
Do I need technical skills?
No. The interface is ready to use on desktop and mobile. DINAO manages the installation, security, and updates of the synchronization server.
Can I change plans or export my data?
Yes. You can upgrade or downgrade at any time, and your data remains exportable — no proprietary lock-in (100% open-source project).
