What is Open Journal Systems?

Open Journal Systems (OJS) is the leading open source platform for scientific journal publishing, developed by the Public Knowledge Project (PKP). Self-hosted, it supports the entire editorial cycle: submission of manuscripts, management of peer review, revision, formatting, and open access publication.

OJS structures roles (editors, reviewers, authors, proofreaders) and workflows, with single or double blind reviews, automatic reminders, and a complete history of decisions. It manages issues, sections, publication schedules, and the production of final files (galleys) in PDF, HTML, or XML.

Designed for the academic ecosystem, the platform exposes its metadata via OAI-PMH, deposits DOIs with Crossref, supports long-term archiving (PKP PN / LOCKSS), and indexing by scientific engines. Multi-journal, multilingual, and fully customizable, OJS powers thousands of journals worldwide.

Where is the data hosted?

On DINAO's infrastructure in France, in one of the available data centers. Manuscripts, evaluation data, and identities do not leave the country.

Yes. OJS manages peer review workflows, including single or double blind, with reviewer assignment, automatic reminders, and decision traceability.

Who manages updates and security?

DINAO. We apply OJS and PKP stack updates, secure the instance, and perform backups. Your board focuses on the editorial line.
