Your federated, sovereign social network
A federated microblogging instance powered by Iceshrimp, installed and maintained by DINAO. Connected to the Fediverse via ActivityPub, hosted in France — your posts belong to you.
What is Iceshrimp?
Iceshrimp is a decentralized and federated social network platform, self-hostable, implementing the ActivityPub standard. Born in 2023 as a fork of Calckey / Firefish (themselves derived from Misskey), it prioritizes stability, performance, and usability over flashy feature accumulation.
It allows posting short messages (microblogging), reacting to posts with custom emojis, managing files via an integrated drive system, and federating with the rest of the Fediverse (Mastodon, PeerTube, other Misskey instances). Its compatibility with the Mastodon API enables the use of many third-party clients (Elk, Phanpy, Tusky, Ice Cubes…) in addition to its native web interface.
Technically, the original implementation relies on TypeScript / Vue.js (Node.js), while a Iceshrimp.NET rewrite (C#) is underway to improve performance. The database is PostgreSQL with a Redis / Valkey cache, and deployment is done via Docker.

Technical details
You might be wondering…
Is Iceshrimp compatible with Mastodon?
Yes. It federates via ActivityPub and exposes the Mastodon API: it exchanges with Mastodon accounts and accepts most Mastodon clients.
What is the difference with Misskey?
Iceshrimp is a fork (via Calckey / Firefish) focused on stability, performance, and real fixes, rather than constantly adding new features.
Which mobile clients can I use?
Mastodon-compatible clients like Tusky, Ice Cubes, Phanpy, or Elk, in addition to Iceshrimp's native web interface.
Are my posts really mine?
Yes. The instance is hosted for you in France: you remain in control of your accounts, media, and moderation, without a central platform.
Can I migrate or export my data?
Yes. Iceshrimp is open source and compatible with Fediverse standards: your data remains portable, with no proprietary lock-in.
