Your Google Timeline, in a private version
Track, analyze and visualize your travel history without entrusting it to Google. Installed and maintained by DINAO on our French servers — your life map remains yours.
What is Reitti?
Reitti is a complete, self-hosted application for tracking, analyzing and visualizing location over time. Its name comes from Finnish and means 'route' or 'path'. It is a private and sovereign alternative to Google Timeline.
Reitti relies on sophisticated visit detection algorithms that automatically identify places where you spend time, combining clustering techniques and stay duration analysis to transform noisy GPS coordinates into meaningful locations. Route analysis detects the mode of transport (walking, cycling, car) based on speed and the nature of the routes. The interface offers an interactive timeline, heatmaps and place groupings.
On the data side, Reitti supports import of GPX, Google Takeout, Google Timeline and GeoJSON, as well as real-time ingestion via OwnTracks and GPSLogger apps, and integrates with Immich to connect your photo server. Data is encrypted at rest, retention is configurable and OIDC authentication is supported. PostgreSQL is recommended for production, SQLite is sufficient for personal use; everything is deployed via Docker.

Technical details
You might be wondering…
How does Reitti replace Google Timeline?
Reitti reconstructs your travel history (visited places, routes, transport modes) like Google Timeline, but on your own instance hosted in France. Your data is not exploited by a web giant.
How do I feed Reitti with location data?
By importing files (GPX, Google Takeout, Google Timeline, GeoJSON) or in real-time via the OwnTracks and GPSLogger mobile apps. An Immich integration also connects your photo server.
Are my movements protected?
Yes. Data is encrypted at rest, retention is configurable, and OIDC authentication secures access. Your movements remain confined to your instance.
Where is the data hosted?
On DINAO infrastructure in France, in one of the available datacenters. Your location history, highly personal data, never leaves the territory.
Do I need technical skills?
No for usage: the interface is ready to use. DINAO handles installation, the database and updates. Coupling with mobile apps is simple and documented.
