What is Pterodactyl?

Pterodactyl is an open source, free game server administration panel designed with security in mind. It runs each game server in an isolated Docker container, ensuring strict separation between instances and fine-grained resource control (CPU, memory, disk).

Its modern web interface allows you to deploy, start, stop, and monitor numerous games — Minecraft, Rust, ARK, Source games, and many more — thanks to its fully customizable "egg" system. Real-time console, file manager, task scheduler, per-server databases, and network allocation management are part of the experience.

Pterodactyl relies on a central panel and a runtime daemon, Wings, deployable on one or multiple nodes to scale horizontally. Multi-user management with granular roles and permissions makes it a tool suitable for both a gaming community and a host looking to resell servers.

You might be wondering…

Which games can I host?

Pterodactyl supports many games via its "egg" system: Minecraft (all variants), Rust, ARK, Source games, and many more. New game profiles can be added according to your needs.

Are my servers isolated from each other?

Yes. Each game server runs in its own Docker container with dedicated CPU, RAM, and disk limits. One server cannot affect the others.

Can I grant access to multiple administrators?

Yes. The panel manages multiple users with fine-grained roles and permissions. You can assign each user access only to their own servers, ideal for a community or reselling.

Where are my worlds and backups stored?

On DINAO's infrastructure in France. Game files, configurations, and backups remain on our French servers, with encryption and automatic backups.

Do I need system skills?

No for daily operations: the web panel is sufficient to create, configure, and monitor your servers. DINAO manages the OS, Docker, the Wings daemon, and infrastructure updates.
