Overview

What is Open Archiver?

Open Archiver is a open source, secure, and sovereign email archiving platform designed for legal compliance. It archives, stores, indexes, and allows searching of emails from major platforms: Google Workspace (Gmail), Microsoft 365, PST files, and any standard IMAP server, with an initial massive import followed by continuous real-time synchronization.

Emails are stored in the standard .eml format, with deduplication and compression to reduce costs, and encrypted at rest. Storage can rely on the local file system or on a S3 compatible object storage (AWS S3, MinIO…). A high-performance search engine indexes the full text of messages and their attachments (PDF, DOCX…).

Regarding compliance, Open Archiver offers granular retention policies to automatically manage the data lifecycle, making it a tool suitable for legal archiving and eDiscovery.

Which mailboxes can I archive?

Google Workspace (Gmail), Microsoft 365, any standard IMAP server, as well as PST files. Open Archiver performs the initial import and then maintains continuous synchronization.

Are the archives legally binding?

Emails are stored in standard .eml format, encrypted at rest, with deduplication and retention policies. It is designed for legal compliance and eDiscovery; specific binding requirements depend on your regulatory framework.

Where is the data stored?

On DINAO's French infrastructure, in an isolated and encrypted container. Compatible S3 object storage (MinIO) is also possible. Your archives never leave the country.

Can I search within attachments?

Yes. The search engine indexes the full text of emails and their attachments (PDF, DOCX…), allowing you to quickly find any message.

Can I change my plan or export my data?

Yes. You can upgrade or downgrade at any time, and your .eml archives remain exportable — no proprietary lock-in.
