What is Nightlio?
Nightlio is an open-source mood tracker and daily journal, designed for self-hosting and privacy. Inspired by excellent mood-tracking apps like Daylio, it was born out of frustration with aggressive subscription models, paywalls, and the lack of cross-platform access.
On a daily basis, you record your mood on a 5-level scale and enrich it with custom tags (sleep, productivity…) to discover what influences your mindset. Each entry can include a detailed note in Markdown. On the analysis side, a mood calendar, time-based averages, streak tracking, and unlockable achievements help you maintain the habit.
Designed from the ground up to stay with you, Nightlio stores your sensitive data in a simple SQLite database — no ads, no subscription, no data mining. Fully web-based and responsive, it is hosted here on a dedicated instance in France, backed up and maintained by DINAO.

Are my personal notes really private?
Yes. Nightlio is designed for self-hosting: your data is stored in an SQLite database on your instance, with no ads or data mining. No one exploits it on your behalf.
How is this different from an app like Daylio?
Nightlio draws inspiration from it but without the aggressive subscription model or paywalls: no ads, no data resale, and a cross-platform web access that you control.
Can I use it on mobile?
Yes. The interface is fully web-based and responsive: it works just as well on desktop as on smartphones, with no app to install.
Where is my data hosted?
On DINAO's infrastructure in France, in one of the available data centers. Your data never leaves the territory.
Can I export my data if I leave?
Yes. Your data belongs to you and remains exportable — no proprietary lock-in. DINAO provides export upon request.
